There are advantages and disadvantages to the point of view selected by an author. In “Views of
an Artist”, Muncey has chosen to use the third-person limited point of view. Each of the narrators is
a character in the story who reveals information about the other character without knowing what she is thinking.
Consider:
- What are the disadvantages of telling a story from this point of view?
- Does the reader get to see the points of view of all characters?
- How does each character feel?
- What is each character thinking?
- What is missing from the story when it is told from this point of view?
